For one week, dancers from all over the world join to participate in classes, tours, dinner shows, celebrity meetings, auditioning, and performing at Disneyland. One studio is chosen each year from each state in the U.S. and we have been proud to represent Michigan.Disney WorldOrlando, Florida1998One of our students was honored to perform at EPCOT Center at Disney World as part of her experience in the Teen Miss Dance of America competition.Summer OlympicsAtlanta, Georgia1996Joanne's Dance Extension was honered to be the only dance studio from Michigan appearing at the 1996 Summer Olympics. A combination of 52 dancers and chaperones left the studio on August 2nd, 1996 aboard a bus bound for Atlanta. We spent 4 days enjoying the "Olympic experience" including a day of performance at the Coca Cola Olympic Center. The students performed a production number with professional talents as well as presenting a show of our own.Metropolitan Ballet CompanyDetroit, Michigan1994Fourteen of our students were selected to perform in the Metropolitan Ballet Company's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.Phone Call from the White House...August 1992George H. W. Bush's second campaign for President brought him on a campaign tour stop to Canton, where we were honored to represent the arts in a performance prior to his speech.Bye Bye BirdieMeadow Brook Music Festival, Auburn Hills, MichiganJuly 1990Mary Farris was selected to perform as a Happy Face dancer in Bye Bye Birdie starring Tommy Tune and Ann Reinking.Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company1989 - PresentEvery December, our students perform in the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company's annual performances of The Nutcracker. They have also been featured in additional PCBC performances including Dracula, Coppelia, Les Sylphides, Symphonic Colors, and Peter and the Wolf.
